There’s no doubt that houseplants elevate the living spaces within your home and over the past few years houseplant’s have become extremely trendy. Because of this the prices have skyrocketed, even for plants that are very easy to come by. If your living on a budget these are the best low light houseplants you should buy!
*** Remember low light does not mean no light ***
Golden Pothos
There are so many varieties of Pothos on the market right now so there are a lot to choose from. What’s great about Pothos is that they propagate pretty easily so you can make more plants which will save you more money.
ZZ Plants
ZZ plants are low light tolerant plants that you can find just about anywhere for cheap! They don’t need to be watered often which is a big plus!
Sansivieria
Sansevieria are one of the top low light houseplants on the market! If you can get the water to light ratio right they will grow and if you’re lucky bloom for you indoors!

Aglaonema
Aglaonemas come in so many beautiful foliage colors! The darker the foliage the better they are with lower lighting conditions. Aglaonemas are also plants that don’t like to be watered very often so get a good watering routine down and your AG will thank you.
Ferns
Ferns can be fussy indoors but if you can get their care right they will reward you with beautiful foliage and a full happy plant.
Dieffenbachia / Dumb Cane
Very easy low light houseplants to grow. They are very forgiving and get huge when well taken care of.
Rhipsalis
Rhipsalis are one of my favorite plants to grow. They are gorgeous, easy to propagate and so very forgiving if neglected.
Calathea
Known as “fussy” in the plant community this plant does well in lower light. If you keep them humid with moist soil they can thrive.
Schefflera
Schefflera do very well in lower light. They are so easy to care for an honestly I forget about mine all the time and it thrives.
It’s no secret that houseplants make a home feel more like home. Despite your lighting situation you can and should have plants in your home.
