Choose the Right Bulbs: Select healthy, firm bulbs that are free from mold or damage.
Prepare the Container: Use a shallow container without drainage holes. Fill it with a layer of pebbles or gravel, about 2-3 inches deep.
Position the Bulbs: Nestle the bulbs into the pebbles with the pointed end up. Arrange them closely together, but not touching, for a more striking display.
Add Water: Pour water into the container until it reaches just below the base of the bulbs. The water should not cover the bulbs, as this could lead to rot.
Provide Light and Warmth: Place the container in a cool, bright location (around 60-65°F or 15-18°C) with indirect sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can cause leggy growth.
Monitor Water Levels: Keep the water level consistent by adding more as needed, ensuring it stays just below the bulb bases.
Wait for Growth: Within a few weeks, you should see roots and shoots emerging. Flowers typically appear 4-6 weeks after planting.
Choose the Right Bulbs: Select firm and healthy bulbs, as with water forcing.
Prepare the Pot: Use a pot with drainage holes. Fill it with well-draining potting mix, leaving about an inch from the top.
Plant the Bulbs: Plant the bulbs with the pointed end up, spacing them close together. Cover with soil, leaving the top third of the bulbs exposed.
Water Thoroughly: Water the soil thoroughly, ensuring it is evenly moist but not soggy.
Provide Light and Warmth: Place the pot in a cool, bright location with indirect sunlight. A temperature range of 60-65°F (15-18°C) is ideal.
Monitor and Maintain: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Check the moisture level regularly and water as needed.
Wait for Blooms: You should see growth in a few weeks, with blooms appearing 4-6 weeks after planting.
By following these steps, you can enjoy the beauty and fragrance of blooming narcissus bulbs indoors during the winter months.
