The winter months are the perfect time to start planning for the upcoming gardening season, but where do you start? Well, first thing’s first: how much space do you have to dedicate to a garden? How many hours of direct sun do you get in that space? And lastly what do you like to eat? That is just a start in planning a small space garden. Once you figure out what you like to eat, it’s time to seed shop! Unless you’re planning on buying veggie starts, then you’ll need to wait a few month. Here are some small space vegetables perfect for small gardens.
Small Space Tomatoes
Dwarf tomato plants offer a high producing plant that will trail out of hanging baskets, raised bed or sit tidy in a 12 inch pot. With plenty of sun and water you’ll be harvesting bowls full of sweet tomatoes all summer long. Some dwarf varieties include Tiny Tim, Patio Bush, Yellow Canary and Red Robin to name a few.
Leafy greens are perfect for small space gardening. They can fit nicely in raised beds or planters all by themselves. Some leafy greens include Lettuces, Collards, Swiss Chard, Bok Choy and Kale just to name a few.
Small Space Peppers
If your a lover of spicy, you can find several pepper varieties that stay pretty compact like Thai Bird’s Eye Chilli Pepper plants or the Golden Baby Belle which will only get two feet tall.
