Taking care of a garden can add so much value to your life. Digging in the dirt is therapeutic and beautifying the outside of your home adds value and visual interest for you and your neighbors. Here’s 6 ways to save money on garden plants.
Dividing
Dividing your own perennials is a great way to expand your garden and save money while doing it. Most Perennials divide or propagate pretty easily, so you can have a full garden in no time.

Shop Clearance and Sales
This is my favorite option. I live in the clearance section of every store I enter. Garden centers and nurseries are no different. You can make your money stretch very far if you shop clearance and sales.
Trade with Neighbors
Trading and sharing plants with your neighbors will help you expand your garden while building a community of gardeners you can share with year after year.

Start Seeds
There are so many perennial seeds on the market that you can start at home. Most of them are super easy to grow and – if started early in the year – are ready for planting by fall. You can find seeds online and in many big box stores.

Buy in Bulk
There are many garden centers and nurseries that will cut you a deal if you buy in large quantities. Let’s say you need over 20 hostas for your shade garden: ask an employee if they can offer a deal. If you order online there is a good chance you can snag a bulk deal.
Propagate
Taking cuttings and propagating is a good way to save money in your garden. There are so many plants that you can root from your own garden, such as hydrangeas, boxwoods, berry bushes, butterfly bushes, just to name a few.
