Have you experienced this problem? You bring your new plant baby home and within the first month it dies? Your not alone and it’s ok. First I want to say is that houseplants die all the time and most of the time we don’t know why and that’s ok. Don’t feel bad, just try again.

First thing to know is that when you take a plant raised in a greenhouse under controlled conditions to your home it’s going to freak out. Whether you see that freak out outward or not it happens. Just know that your plants need time to transition to your home environment. Most houseplants transition just fine but some just up and die despite giving them the best care.

The second reason your houseplants die is lack of humidity. Greenhouses are humid! Homes typically are not. Please know that humidity loving plants may not adjust well. They will show signs such as crispy leaves, brown spots and possibly wilting. If you take precautions you can keep your humidity loving baby happy.

Thirdly light, the lighting in your home will be different. Any change in lighting WILL affect your plant. It’s best to try to match lighting or gradually change your lighting to accommodate your new plant. So long story short don’t put your plant into direct light if it’s a plant that requires indirect or lower light.

If your new houseplant dies don’t worry or feel bad. You can always try again. I’ve had many plants that died shortly after bringing them home. I no longer get frustrated. I try again.
